The 2026 FIFA World Cup came to an end. After thrilling action in 104 football matches played across the US, Canada and Mexico, it is time for football clubs to enjoy some action in their bank accounts. In June 2026 FIFA released the details on the distribution of funds from the FIFA World Cup 2026 Club Benefit Programme.
For the first time, FIFA will distribute money to clubs whose players participated in the qualifying pathways for the tournament.
The total amount to be distributed was increased by 70% in comparison to 2022.
FIFA will distribute a total of USD 350 million, divided as follows:
- USD 100 million for the qualifying competition;
- USD 250 million for the final competition.
Which Clubs are Eligible?
The clubs that are eligible to receive the compensation are those whose registered players participated in World Cup qualifiers and in the finals of the FIFA World Cup.
Eligible clubs are compensated in accordance with the player’s registration history during the relevant eligibility period.
Where a player is transferred or joins a new club on loan during the relevant release period, the compensation relating to that player is divided pro rata between the former club and the new club, based on their respective registration dates, in accordance with the applicable FIFA Regulations.
Compensation for player participation in the FWC 2026 Qualifiers.
A total amount of USD 100 million will be distributed for all the players who were in the squad of their national teams in the FWC 2026 qualifiers.
This amounts to USD 2,362 per player per match for which the player was on the national team’s 23-player list.
Compensation for player participation in the FIFA World Cup 2026 final competition.
For the FIFA World Cup 2026 final competition, compensation shall be calculated per player / per day, from the official release date (25.05.2026) until the day following the national team’s final match.
The expected minimum compensation for the final tournament is approximately USD 5,000 per player, per day, subject to the final calculation following the completion of the competition.
Registration and Submission Process
Eligible clubs must register and administer their participation in the Programme through FIFA’s dedicated online platform, which will be used for the submission of the relevant information required for the assessment and payment of compensation.
