FIFA Club Protection Programme 2023-2026

FIFA has published the new edition of the FIFA Club Protection Programme for the 2023-2026 seasons.

Herein you can find a brief note regarding the programme as to the requirements to be fulfilled in order to be compensated by the Programme.

The Purpose of the Programme is to compensate Clubs if their professional football Players are injured due to an accident while on duty with senior representative ‘A’ teams.

– The Clubs will be compensated for a temporary total disablement that lasts for more than 28 consecutive days as a result of bodily injuries caused by an accident during the operative time of the said matches.

– Claims shall be submitted through the following portal, to Quest Gates (a third party that shall undertake the administrative aspects of the claim):

– The programme covers matches that take place on the dates of the FIFA International Match Calendar between two “A” representative teams and friendly matches of “A” representative teams participating in the confederation final competitions (e.g. EURO 2024), the FIFA World Club and the Women’s World Cup final competitions during the preparation period.

– Maximum compensation may be EUR 7,500,000, calculated at a daily “pro rata” compensation of up to EUR 20,548 / day for a maximum of 365 days.

– The compensation payable is based solely on the fixed salary (including mandatory social security charges) that the Club pays directly to the Player.

– Details of the accident causing injury to the Player must be sent to the Platform by the football Club within 28 days of the accident at the latest. Any claims or losses following accidents reported later than this time will be rejected.

 

Contents of the Application for the FIFA Club Protection Programme 2023-2026:

a. An initial medical certificate written by the Association’s doctor;

b. any hospital reports, emergency ward reports, MRI scans, X-rays, rehabilitation programmes and other medical documentation that is available;

c. The name and contact details of the association doctor and Club doctor.

Beyond the above, additional documents may be requested by Quest Gates.

– The football Club, the relevant Association and the injured Player shall fully cooperate with FIFA, Quest Gates and medical advisers involved in the investigation and processing of the claim.

– Confirmation that the football Club shall receive compensation will be provided under the following circumstances:

a. the 28 consecutive day excess period has elapsed;

b. the accident occurred within the “operative time” and the loss is not subject to any exclusions;

c. The amount of the loss is proven;

d. The claim is subject to all terms and conditions of the FIFA Club Protection Programme.

– The compensation is due on a monthly basis, within 30 days of agreement of the loss (suffered by the Football Club).

– The football Club shall immediately inform Quest Gates when the injured Player is able to resume.

The abovementioned information constitutes only a brief analysis of the process that needs to be followed in order for Clubs to claim compensation for injuries suffered by their Players during international duty.
