Coaching outside the 4 lines: Legal issues related to the coaching profession

AP Sports Law is organizing a Round Table on: “Coaching outside the 4 lines: Legal issues related to the coaching profession”, on June 1st, 17.00 – 18.30, SPESS, DUTH, Komotini. The round table is organized within the framework of the 32nd International Congress of Physical Education and Sport Science on May 31-June 2 (https://icpess.gr/).

The head lawyer of AP Sports Law, Alkis Papantoniou and his associates, study the contemporary legal issues of sports law related to the coaching profession and invite current and potential sports professionals to a rare and specialized discussion on the challenges faced – and those that a coach will face in the future – through sports law.

The Round table is addressed to academics and students with an interest in the legal framework governing the coaching profession (Law, Physical Education and Sport Science, Sports Management), coaches and collective representative bodies, sports clubs and sports associations.

The Round Table is chaired by the Legal Advisor of PAOK FC and CAS Arbitrator, Mr. Achilleas Mavromatis.

– What is (and what is not) a sports coach, according to the international and national legal framework? Dimitris Poulakidas, Sports Law Lawyer, MSc Sports Events Organization, Democritus University of Thrace.

– The professional coach and special legal issues: Myths and truths. Alkis Papantoniou, Head of AP Sports Law, UEFA Pro Bono Counsel, Member of the FIBA Disciplinary Committee in the Anti-Doping Department.

– Legislative implications on Artificial Intelligence applications in coaching. Nousias Alexandros, Research Associate, National Centre for Scientific Research “DEMOKRITOS”, Institute of Informatics and Telecommunications.

– Coaches of athletes with disabilities: recognition of legal framework and its shortcomings. Vaios Gioras, Professor of Physical Education AUTH, ASAA Irodikos Coach, former national coach of Greece National Wheelchair Basketball Team.

– A professional coach advises future coaches on managing legal issues he/she has faced. Vangelis Samios, Technical Director of Panathinaikos FC Academy, UEFA A and UEFA Elite Youth Coach.
